"RUFUS"

On July 23, 2017, Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control was contacted in reference to an injured dog. Animal Control responded to the 3600 block of NW 6 Avenue, (Whispering Pines), where they located the injured puppy. The puppy is a male, American bull-mix, approximately 6-8 months old. Animal Control took the dog to Northlake Veterinary Office in Okeechobee. It was determined that the puppy did indeed have multiple fractures in the mouth and facial area and would need extensive surgery. Ruff Pet Rescue, Indiantown, Florida, was then contacted. Ruff Pet Rescue retrieved the puppy from Animal Control and transported him to their veterinarian. It was determined thru x-rays that he had a broken jaw, consistent with being kicked or stomped. Surgery was performed, which included installing titanium plates and screws to reattach his jaw.

If you have any information regarding the owner’s identity or the suspect(s) that committed this abuse, contact Deputy Sheriff Hartsfield, (863)763-3117, in reference to Case #17S16781.

“Rufus” is recovering nicely. A GO FUND ME page has been set up to help recover his surgery expenses.

For more information contact Ruff Pet Rescue, Indiantown, Florida, (954)993-7860.
