The overall focus is to keep children safe, especially on a night when there's so many of them outdoors. Okeechobee County currently has (2) juvenile offenders, (104) offenders and (10) predators), that register with the Sheriff’s Office. Florida's number of registered sex offenders is rising dramatically. Restrictions can vary from case to case, depending on court-ordered probation requirements and the crimes committed. RX Drug Take Back

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day On Saturday, October 28, from 10a.m. to 2 p.m. the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills for disposal to Flagler Park, 55 SE 3 Avenue, Okeechobee. (The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches.) The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion

Everglades Safety Patrol
