Quilt Ministry

The Quilt Ministry of the First Baptist Church, donated quilts with matching animals to the Sheriff’s Office.

On the first Saturday of each month, this group meets to sew and fellowship together, bringing their offerings of completed quilts to turn in. Since 2004, over 2,700 quilts have been made and given away to share the love of Jesus Christ with those in need of comfort.

Okeechobee County Sheriff’s detectives frequently face situations where young children have to cope with a traumatic event. It might involve a car accident, the death or serious injury of a family member, domestic violence or possibly the child is a victim.

During these type situations where children are dealing with trauma, gifts such as stuffed animals given to the children by the detective actually help comfort them. It also helps build trust between the detectives and children.

Thank you so much Quilt Ministry!
