PROUD!

I’d like to share a conversation between Sheriff Noel E. Stephen and Liz Wassner of Palm Coast, Florida. The following is the messenger conversation:

Ms. Wassner: “Hi there. I know you don’t know me and this is very random, but I am a resident of Palm Coast, Florida and today I was in line at Chick-Fil-A and there was a local police officer in line behind me and I told the employee that I wanted to pay for the officer’s meal. As I said that a man walked up and handed the employee money and said, “I’d like to pay for the officer’s meal.” The employee replied, “she already is.” He said, “Then I’d like to pay for her meal.” Meaning me. I told him I would split the cost of the meal with him for the officer. It was such a nice thing to see two strangers with the same thought process come together and make someone’s day. I know you’re wondering what this has to do with you, but the gentleman who helped pay, handed me a stack of credit card protective covers and your name is on them. I wasn’t sure if it was you? Or maybe an employee or fellow officer of yours but I would really like to thank him. My son was in the backseat and it sets such a good example for him. Thank you for your time and I hope I can thank you or him, whoever it was one day.”

Sheriff Stephen: “Hello ma’am!! Yes that is me on those covers. I would need some more info to know which one of my deputies you met.”

Ms. Wassner gave a description of the deputy and his family.

Sheriff Stephen: “Did the deputy have dimples?” and sent a picture of one of our deputies.

Ms. Wassner confirmed that was the deputy.

Sheriff Stephen: “Thank you very much!!! Means more than you know!!! He is just one of my many men and women that make me proud and honored to be their Sheriff!!!”

Ms. Wassner: “Oh My Gosh! Leave it to me to bother a Sheriff. I’m so sorry! You have to be so busy and you were kind enough to take the time to listen to me about my wild goose chase. Thank you for what you all do for us. I want my son to grow up with respect for authorities and be a good man. It’s men like you guys that are role models for him. Thank you and your family for your sacrifice.”

That deputy that Ms. Wassner was complimenting was Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sheriff Jack Nash!

Thank you Ms. Wassner for recognizing Deputy Nash. We are extremely proud of all of our Deputies and our Sheriff!
