Brilyn Sell's Choice
When someone says he or she is thinking about suicide, or says things that sound as if the person is considering suicide, it can be very upsetting. You may not be sure what to do to help, whether you should take talk of suicide seriously, or if your intervention might make the situation worse. Will that person hate you? Will you lose their friendship? Brilyn Sell, a high school senior found herself in that type of situation. Ms. Sell made a decision that she would take a chance of being hated and losing a friendship. She took that chance and did in fact quite possibly saved a life. Taking action is always the best choice. That’s exactly what Brilyn Sell chose to do. SRO Sgt. Mark Roberts wanted to convey admiration, respect and praise to Brilyn for her actions. She was nominated for and awarded the “Just-Us Citation Youth Recognition Award”. Congratulations Brilyn! Michele Bell, PIO
