Beachside police warn of door-knocking men with flags...
Update 9:28 a.m. Wednesday
Tuesday afternoon, police in Indialantic, Indian Harbour Beach and Satellite Beach posted surveillance photos and warnings about the suspicious solicitors on their respective departments' Facebook pages.
Indian Harbour Beach and Satellite Beach police stated that the men do not have permits to solicit door-to-door in either bordering beachside city.
The men-who are known to wear green hospital-style scrubs-knock on doors and offer U.S. flags as icebreakers during their sales calls. They may say they work for Environmental Air Care Inc. of Palm Bay, and they may solicit storage units in Palm Bay.
Satellite Beach police received complaints of the men "behaving in a pushy manner" and asking to either enter the home or have the resident step outside.
Indian Harbour Beach police received several reports of the men acting "very aggressive and boisterous."
To report the suspicious solicitors in either city, call Satellite Beach police at 321-773-4400 or Indian Harbour Beach police at 321-773-3030. Original story
Beware, Brevard beachside residents: Two "pushy and suspicious" men are soliciting at homes and handing out U.S. flags while driving through
neighborhoods in a blue Ford Expedition, Indialantic Police Sgt. Mike Casey said.
The unidentified solicitors were seen in Sebastian in early July, Casey said. Since Thursday or Friday, Space Coast residents have reported their activities to law enforcement from Indialantic northward.
"They're going up to houses and they are trying to sell something-we believe-and they hand out a free flag. They solicit one house, but they don't go the house next door. They hit one house on the street. It's very suspicious," Casey said.
"There have been no crimes committed that we know of. It's just suspicious activity that's got a lot of people concerned," he said.
