Re: Arrest of Registered Sex Offender
On February 11, 2011, the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office received an intake report from the Department of Children and Families regarding the possible sexual abuse of a child. The report alleged that convicted, registered Sexual Offender, Robert Foster Oliver, was the suspect.
Upon the initial deputy report, there was information gathered which indicated sexual abuse. The case was turned over to Detective William Suggs. Detective Suggs’ investigation revealed that there was one victim under the age of twelve. Oliver was subsequently arrested for two (2) counts of Lewd & Lascivious Molestation on a Child Under 12 Years of Age and four (4) counts of Capital Sexual Battery.
On July 5, 1994, Oliver was arrested for Sexual Battery and Lewd & Lascivious Act Upon a Child. On March 20, 1995, Oliver was convicted of Lewd & Lascivious, in Okeechobee County, Florida, and sentenced to nine (9) years Department of Corrections(prison) to be followed by six (6) years probation. On 12/16/99, Oliver was released from prison and began serving six (6) years probation. Oliver registered with the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office as a sex offender and has continued to do so at required intervals. Bond has been set at $1,000,000.00
This is an ongoing investigation, no other information can be released at this time.
Sheriff Paul C. May said of the arrest, “I don’t want to say anything to prejudice this case, but if this man pleads guilty or is found guilty in court, I will have plenty to say.”
