RE: Burn Ban for Okeechobee County
A County-wide burn ban has been imposed to include, but not limited to, campfires, bonfires, burn barrels and the burning of yard trash and fireworks. The ban will be in effect until further notice based upon conditions which are being monitored. The Division of Forestry is continuing to issue burn permits for acreage on a day by day, case by case basis. Violation of the burn ban is punishable by a fine not exceeding $500.00, imprisonment in the County jail for a term not exceeding 60 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
