RE: Discovery of Skeletal Remains
On December 16, 2010, at approximately 6:28 p.m., deputies were dispatched in reference to skeletal remains being found in the Platt’s Bluff area of Okeechobee County, Florida.
Detectives from the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office along with officers from the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission(FWC), discovered skeletal remains of a male subject and other miscellaneous items around the area. Among the items found, was a pacemaker. After further investigation, detectives were able to tentatively determine the identity of the victim from the pacemaker, however his identity cannot be released at this time, until the next of kin has been notified.
At this time, it is unknown how long the victim has been deceased or the cause of death. The remains will be turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further analysis and determination of death. This case will remain under investigation. No other information to release at this time.
