Reference: Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office Torch Run
Sheriff Paul C. May would like to announce Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office first annual Law Enforcement Torch Run. On May 1, 2010 at 9:00 AM, the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team will lead a 3.3 mile run from the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office to the Okeechobee Publix store. The runners in the event are personnel from local law enforcement agencies. The purpose of the run is to raise funds which will support athletic training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. To date, the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office has raised over $5400.00 through employee payroll deductions (over 80% participation by Sheriff’s Staff), t-shirt/hat sales and donations.
The event briefing will be at 8:30 AM on 05/01/2010 followed by a guest speaker. The SRT team will line up in formation to lead the run. The run will start at 9 Am. The SRT team will set the pace and stragglers will be discouraged. The course will be:
