RE: School Crossing Guard Appreciation Day

The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office celebrated School Crossing Guard Appreciation Day on Thursday, February 9, 2012. Sheriff Paul C. May and Undersheriff Noel Stephen, accompanied the School Crossing Guards to breakfast at 9:00 a.m., at Pogey’s, in recognition of their service.

Crossing Guard Appreciation Day is celebrated state-wide each February and recognizes those individuals who spend countless hours assisting our children in crossing busy intersections as they arrive and depart from school.  Sheriff May and Undersheriff Stephen recognized and presented a certificate to 5 current School Crossing Guards and 1 retiree.

Sheriff May stated, “We appreciate the job they do day in and day out to protect our children. Our safety record is excellent and these men and women are the reason for it.”
