Sheriff Paul C. May has released the following information: RE: Employees of the Year 2011 Sheriff Paul C. May is proud to announce the “Employees of the Year” awards for 2011. The “Employees of the Year” awards are a celebration and recognition of Sheriff’s Office employees who have exhibited outstanding performance throughout the year. The “Employees of the Year” are chosen from those awarded “Employees of the Quarter” from the four quarters, throughout the year. “Employees of the Quarters” are employees nominated by their immediate supervisors and co-workers for exceptional service and ultimately awarded by the Sheriff from these nominations. There are four categories for Employee of the Year and quarter, they are: Administrative, Citizen Volunteer, Detention Deputy and Law Enforcement. The categories are defined as:
The “Employees of the Year 2011” are as follows: Administrative: Lisa Baisley, first quarter, 2011 Lisa Baisley was nominated by Juanita White. “Lisa has been with the Sheriff’s Office since August 7, 2006. She has shown great dedication to the department. She worries and tries to take care of every officer in the department. Just being the Road Patrol Captain’s secretary is a full time job but she does so much more. Lisa has a work ethics that is missing in most young people.” Citizen Volunteer: Amy Wilson, first quarter and fourth quarter, 2011 Amy Wilson was nominated by Road Patrol Captain Bud Slay and Nurse Sonia Oldham, for Volunteer of the Quarter. Captain Slay stated Amy was appointed to the Auxiliary in 2005. Since that time Amy has covered numerous details saving the department thousands of dollars. Nurse Oldham stated that not only is Amy a volunteer, she is also an employee. Ms. Oldham states that “Amy is an excellent employee who not only completes her job, but constantly fills in wherever needed with a great attitude that shines to everyone. She is someone that I feel is a great example to both employees and civilians outside the Sheriff’s Office.” Detention Deputy: D/D Karen Woodham, third quarter, 2011 Karen was nominated by Captain Madrigal for her tireless efforts and her ability to continuously demonstrate hard work habits and fairness when dealing with inmates. She always has a positive demeanor towards fellow employees. Karen never complains and puts her best step forward in dealing with tasks that are given to her. Law Enforcement: D/S Arlene Durbin and D/S Steven Pollock, second quarter, 2011 Deputy Sheriff Arlene Durbin and Deputy Sheriff Steven Pollock were both nominated by Sgt. Clif Gill. Both of these deputies responded to assist Fire/Rescue with a possible overdose. The deputies arrived on scene first and found the victim nonresponsive, her lips were blue and she had no pulse. D/S Durbin and D/S Pollock performed CPR and the victim began to respond. “Due to the teamwork of these two deputies, the victim was revived and transported to Raulerson Hospital. Their actions deserve recognition and are a statement to the training and professionalism of this Department.” The Employee of the Year in each category will receive a plaque memorializing the event, a check for $500.00(for volunteers, it is a check for their respective program), and the employees picture is displayed in a place of honor at the Sheriff’s Office for the year. Sheriff May said of the awards, “All of our employees perform their duties every day in an outstanding manner. Sometimes things happen that are above and beyond. It’s a pleasure to award these employees of the quarter and of the year.” Michele Bell, Public information Officer Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office 504 NW 4th Street Okeechobee, Florida 34972 This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
