Okeechobee County Announces Burn Ban Lifted Effective Immediately
The Okeechobee County Interim Public Safety Director, David McCain announced today, July 2, 2011 that the countywide burn ban will be lifted effective immediately.
In response to the current conditions, Okeechobee County along with the City of Okeechobee are lifting the city and county-wide burn ban which prohibited the burning of yard trash or other types of open fires, such as campfires, bonfires, burn barrels, and the use of fireworks. Due to the recent amount of rainfall and the decline in the Drought Index and Fire Danger Index, conditions are suitable for the Burn ban to be lifted.
