SHERIFF PAUL C. MAY HAS RELEASED THE FOLLOWING:
Re: Marijuana Grow House
On March 23, 2011, Detective K. Gray arrested Arnaldo M. Mirabal Brage for cultivation of marijuana, trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On the above date members of the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office and Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at 15080 Northwest 12th Terrace. The search warrant was signed by the Honorable Judge Bryant on the same day. During the execution of the search warrant, Brage was present at the residence.
Prior to any search of the residence and structures, Crime Scene photographed the exterior as well as the interior of the residence. During the search of the residence there were four (4) rooms dedicated to the growing of marijuana. In these rooms were ballasts, 1000 watt lights, fans, Mylar, air conditioning units, thermostats, pH testers, water barrels, vent systems, potting soil, plant pots and growing marijuana actively being used to cultivate marijuana.
Located in the refrigerator was a large freezer bag with approximately 0.4220 pounds of processed marijuana ready for resale. Located in three (3) of the rooms were approximately one hundred and thirty-six (136) growing marijuana plants, one hundred of those plants had an active root system. The approximate weight of the marijuana plants, processed marijuana and loose marijuana was 126.222 pounds.
Located in a van registered to Brage were numerous items used to grow marijuana, such as grow light bulbs and fertilizer. Receipts were located in the van for products bought and used to cultivate marijuana.
Located in the bedroom was paperwork with Brage name and the above address on it. Also located was mail with the address of 860 SE 3 Place in Hialeah, Florida. Items of evidence were collected by Crime Scene and processed. Brage was transported to the Okeechobee County Jail for booking.
Brage is currently on probation for racketeering out of Miami-Dade County and has Miami-Dade addresses on his driver license. Due to this reason, the bond is to be set by the Judge. If the marijuana plants were processed and sold at street level the estimated profit Brage would have received is approximately $400,000.00. In a marijuana grow operations plants can be harvested every ninety days and then sold.
Brage has been charged with Cultivation of Marijuana, Trafficking in Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Sell and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond is to be set.
Sheriff Paul C. May said of the raid, “The Drug Task Force has been successful again. We will continue to rid our county of these growhouses.”
As always, the nature of the probable cause to obtain the search warrant is privileged information and will not be released.
