The Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office recently participated in the Click It or Ticket Challenge, an initiative funded by the Florida Department of Transportation through the FDOT Safety Office. This initiative seeks to encourage Law Enforcement to participate in increasing safety belt usage in the State of Florida and reducing occupant protection related crash fatalities and injury severity.
The key elements of the challenge are safety belt enforcement, child restraint enforcement, public education and information, earned media and safety belt usage rates.
